Abstract (en)
One of the most relevant questions in an clinical cardiology examination is the valid determination of left ventricular (LV) function at rest and under stress. Currently, cardiac magnetic resonance (MRI) is the reference method for the assessment of LV-function because it is non-invasive and radiation free. Using new MRI-sequences and post-processing techniques aquantitative assessment of systolic and diastolic functionis feasible. In addition, stress-MRI has been demonstrated to have a high diagnostic accuracy as well as high prognostic value. This leads to improved treatment of the individualized patients by avoiding unnecessary invasive examination and reducing costs for the healthcare system.
