Introduction. Umbilical hernia (UH) repair is a common procedure. Suture, mesh and laparoscopic repair techniques are used for UH surgery. Recurrence rates remain high and are up to 20% for mesh and 54% for suture repair. Surgical site infection (SSI), body mass index (BMI) >30 and hernia size >2 cm are thought to be main risk factors for recurrence. Aim of the study: To assess and compare the results following different umbilical hernia repair techniques and to analyze the risk factors for hernia recurrence. [...].
